Kid Cudi's Hipster Hop
Rapper Kid Cudi, who recently gained popularity with his single "Day 'N Nite," is back with a new single off his LP Man on the Moon: The End of Day. Cudi may be picking up some new fans with "Pursuit of Happiness" — the track features spaced-out indie rockers MGMT and was produced by the trip-hoppy Ratatat, not the usual characters on the mainstream rap scene. The track features Cudi's signature stoner rap with MGMT's vocals singing, "I'm in the pursuit of happiness / And I know everything that's shiny ain't always gonna be gold."
You can listen to "Pursuit of Happiness" on stereogum. Cudi is scheduled to perform the single on the "Late Show With David Letterman" on Friday, September 11. Ratatat will be there as part of Cudi's backup band.
Man on the Moon: The End of Day drops September 15.
