Death Cab Debuts 'New Moon' Track
It's hard to think of a better band to be featured on the "New Moon" soundtrack than emotional rockers Death Cab for Cutie. The band has built a career on guitar laden songs that speak of love and heartache. And "New Moon," the second movie in the three-part "Twilight" series, focuses on the break-up (and subsequent soul-sucking broken-hearted misery) of the hunky vampire Edward and the sulky teenage girl Bella.
At some point during the Kanye/VMA whirlwind, Death Cab's new song, "Meet Me on the Equinox," premiered. And nobody really noticed. Thanks a lot, Kanye. And Beyonce. And you too, Taylor Swift. For those who missed it, the song is available to stream on MTV.com.
The lyrics are very appropriate for the movie's storyline, with Ben Gibbard singing "everything ends," over and over. It's bound to be a hit with the Twilight demographic - which if I'm not mistaken spans from 12-year-old girls to middle age women, all with a propensity to scream, clap and cry at the mention of Robert Pattinson's (vampire Edward) existence.
The "New Moon" soundtrack will be available October 20th, and it may include songs from Thom Yorke, Bon Iver and Muse (as reported by MTV.com). "New Moon" hits theaters November 20th.
