Happy 15th Vans Warped Tour

Photobucket
Punk-loving, halfpipe-riding, moshpit enthusiasts gathered in front of the Club Nokia stage in L.A. to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Vans Warped Tour. The ears of eager Warped lovers got a healthy dosage of returning artists, NOFX, Bad Religion, Rise Against, All-American Rejects and Underoath, alongside neophytes 3OH!3, and Aggrolite. Not to mention, the punk princess, Katy Perry, and her boy-loathing tunes. Needless to say, the audience had a constant urge to jump up and down and karaoke the lyrics through each and every set; there is a reason why Warped Tour is called “punk-rock summer camp.”

Not only were the above bands present, but compilations formed from different punk artists from existent bands were also paired up for the gig. According to Rolling Stone, when asked about his joint effort with Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith, Pete Wentz joked, “You send your best to the Olympics, this is the dream team.” This is the mentality of most of the artist who play the Warped Tour. Many popular punk rockers to date claim there success began with said tour and feel the need to pay homage to their humble beginnings.

No doubt this was a characteristic venture in Warped Tour history of very diverse and dicey band choices. But once again, the tour was the ultimate potpourri of artists in the punk-pop world, and a must see for anyone who claims to be a true fan of this musical genre.
