Actor Patrick Swayze lost a more than year-long battle with Pancreatic cancer on Monday, according to his publicist.
Swayze was diagnosed with the disease in early March 2008, shortly before filming began on his final project, A&E's "The Beast," to which he agreed before the diagnosis. The show debuted in January.
The actor was most famous for his roles in "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost," and went on to marquee a number of moderately successful films in the '80s. In 1991, People Magazine voted him the "sexiest man alive."
Swayze was 57 and is survived by his wife.
