The crazy, confetti-loving, robot/alien obsessed Flaming Lips appeared on "The Colbert Report" last night. Colbert interviewed Lips frontman Wayne Coyne, grilling him on such topics as the lyrics of "Do You Realize??" to the the "mind-expanding" tone of the Lips' music. Then they performed "Convinced of the Hex" off their upcoming album Embryonic.
You can now stream Embryonic's 18 tracks on the Colbert Nation site, but listen up quick because the free stream will only be available until next Monday (Sept. 21). The record has the same psych rock we have come to know and love from the Lips, but it's also little more quiet than 2006's At War With the Mystics.
Embryonic hits stores October 13, and deluxe edition pre-sale copies (featuring two discs, an audio DVD and a furry cover) are available for purchase now on The Flaming Lips site.
