Pavement to Play Reunion Show

 Photobucket

Pavement fans everywhere are crying tears of joy. The widely revered 90s indie band, broken up since 1999, has been teasing fans with reunion rumors for years. And now there is news of a concrete plan for at least one reunion show.

On Matador Records' (Pavement's label) site, they say, "After years of speculation, the most important American band of the 1990’s is returning to the stage, with the lineup of Mark Ibold, Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg, Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich and Steve West reuniting for dates around the world in 2010."

According to Rolling Stone, Pavement guitarist Kannberg confirmed that the band will indeed get back together to play the Central Park Summerstage benefit concert on September 21, 2010. Kannberg also said that they may play more than one show at Summerstage.

Of course there is lots of speculation surrounding this announcement: Will there be a full-on reunion tour? Will they play the Coachella festival in 2010? What does this mean for the future of Pavement? For now, no one knows, but fans are buzzing about what will be the band's first show in over a decade.

Stay tuned for more news on Pavement reunion shows.
