Drew Barrymore 'Whips' Up a Killer Soundtrack

Photobucket

Drew Barrymore has been in the spotlight her entire life.  From E.T. to Charlie’s Angels, America has seen her grow-up before their eyes.  And after a lifetime of films under her belt, Barrymore has taken on a new role, both acting in and directing Whip It, a film about a female roller derby team, starring Juno’s Ellen Page.  Along with Barrymore’s directorial debut, the seasoned Hollywood star acted as her own music supervisor for the film’s soundtrack, which is due out Tuesday, September 29.

Barrymore is known for being big on the music scene.  Pictures were posted on the internet showing her hanging with then-beau Justin Long at this year’s Bonnaroo, while Rolling Stone Magazine published photos of the actress spending time on the tour bus with Kings of Leon.  So, trusting Ms. Barrymore with the music choice is a safe bet.

The track-list is all over the indie rock, power-pop spectrum using songs like Peaches’ “Boys Wanna Be Her” (which is heard in the film’s trailer), The Ramones’ “Sheena is a Punk Rocker”, a flash back to the ‘80s with .38 Special’s “Caught up in You” and Little Joy’s “Unattainable” (the band that features Barrymore’s ex, Fab Moretti).

The soundtrack will be released by Rhino Records and look below to get the full track-list.
