Ozzy Osbourne Recieves Billboard’s Legend of Live Award
Known for his on-stage antics and insane live performances, Ozzy Osbourne is set to receive this year’s Legend of Live Award presented by Billboard. Ozzy’s career has survived four decades, millions of sold albums, and a cheeky family reality show.
No doubt, Ozzy is a perfect candidate for an award that recognizes an artist with particular interest in live performance and touring as the main facet for reaching his many beloved fans. I agree with Billboard’s assessment, “Ozzy's impact on live music, including pioneering the multi-act rock festival touring with Ozzfest, will be felt for many years to come, and his efforts continue to shape the touring landscape in this century."
Through his work with Black Sabbath and his hugely prevalent solo career, Ozzy has reached millions of music-lovers across several generations with his music and ultimate love of the stage.
Ozzy will be in New York on November 5 for the 2009 Billboard Touring Awards. Let’s hope he doesn’t bite any bat heads off during his acceptance speech.
Previous award recipients include Rolling Stones promoter Michael Cohl (2004), Cellar Door Concerts founder Jack Boyle (2005), Sir Elton John (2006), pioneering agent Frank Barsalona (2007), and the Allman Brothers Band (2008).
