Athens bar the Globe turns 20 years old today. In celebration of this birthday, the Globe is throwing a party tonight featuring music by local acts Art Rosenbaum and Flash to Bang Time. It's free to enter, and there will be $3.50 Guiness and other great beers on tap, as always.
The European-inspired pub was opened by Randy Camp with hopes to create a meeting for Athenians to get some good beer, hang out and unwind. Since opening its doors in 1989, the Globe has been a favorite among locals - including many professors, international students and grad students - and was named best bar in America by Esquire Magazine.
The Globe has recently become more of a music venue with acts playing on the upstairs stage. Now patrons can enjoy the great drinks and cozy atmosphere while listening to some live music. Let's hope this standout bar keeps its doors open for many more years to come.
