The Black Keys Go Hip Hop
Gritty blues rockers The Black Keys have gone hip hop. The Keys just released the details of its upcoming album of collaborations with various hip hop heavyweights.
The album is not attributed to the Black Keys; it will be released under the name Blakroc. Mos Def, Q-Tip, Ludacris, Raekwon and the now deceased Ol' Dirty Bastard are among the many contributors to the Blakroc project. TBK dipped its feet into the hip-hop-collaboration pond in 2008, working with Danger Mouse (legendary producer and one half of the group Gnarls Barkley) on the album Attack & Release.
According to the Blakroc site, the album will be released on "Blak Friday," also known as the Friday after Thanksgiving or November 27th. There is a short video teaser up on the site also.
TBK will play the Austin City Limits Festival on October 4th, then the Voodoo Fest in New Orleans on October 30th.
