Nelly Furtado Introduces Her First Spanish Album
Nelly Furtado’s worn many hats since her “I’m Like a Bird” days.
In 2006, she partnered with all-star producer Timbaland for her hip-hopesque album, Loose, which generated hits such as “Promiscuous” and “Say It Right.”
Now, the newly-wed is showing off her Latin flare. Mi Plan, Furtado’s debut album in Espanol, is all about love.
“This album is really a personal album,” Furtado told the Associated Press. “Basically the big theme is love. My last three albums, I had songs that maybe explored certain aspects of love, but they’re not really direct love songs. On this album the songs are a lot more simple.”
This Portuguese Canadian teams up with some Spanish-speaking and singing names such as La Mala Rodriguez, Alex Cuba and Juan Luis Guerra; as well as an English- singing guy named Josh Groban. Maybe you’ve heard of him?
“Manos Al Aire” is the first single off the album and premiers as the first song by a North American artist reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart.
