Whitney on 'Oprah'
What do you do if you’re one of the world’s most famous singers, leave the spotlight for 7 years, leave your husband, ( the drugs), and then make a huge comeback? You go on Oprah to tell the world, that’s what you do!
Whitney Houston had her first television interview with Oprah Winfrey since coining her phrase “Crack is wack” back in 2002 in an interview with Diane Sawyer. The two stars talked openly with one another during the show. Houston told Winfrey the drug use began to increase after “The Bodyguard” release and she would lace her marijuana with rock cocaine.
“We were lacing our marijuana with cocaine,” Houston said.”It’s almost like heroin and cocaine speedballing, but you leave it off with the marijuana, okay?”
Houston also recalled incidences of her tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown. At times, things became physically abusive.
“I took the phone and hit him over the head with it and he just fell out on the floor,” Houston remembered.
She also revealed her dependency on Brown saying, “He was my drug. I didn’t do anything without him.”
The second hour of this two-episode interview will air tomorrow on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
