Shins frontman James Mercer is breaking into the world of acting in the upcoming film "Some Days are Better than Others." Also starring in "Some Days" is Carrie Brownstein, formerly of the band Sleater-Kinney. The film's trailer was just revealed today on the "Some Days" site.
With all the bleak imagery (stark skies, grey rainy scenes, dogs in the pound) and Brownstein's character talking about heart break, let's just say this one doesn't look like a real upper.
Mercer plays Eli, an unemployed 30-something with little motivation, and Brownstein plays Katrina, an animal shelter worker in her mid-20s struggling with the reality that people don't always live up to our expectations of them. According to the film's site, "Some Days are Better Than Others is about the nuances of communication, the desperation of heartbreak, and the struggle to maintain hope through the passing of time."
"Some Days" is the debut feature film from Portland, Ore., based director Matt McCormick. There is not yet a definite release date for the film.
