John Lydon Reforms PiL
Reuters reported John Lydon, better known as “Johnny Rotten” of the Sex Pistols, is reforming his band Public Image Ltd, and doing a five-date tour beinning in December.
The band originally formed in 1978, not long after the collapse of the Sex Pistols. Known for their pioneering approach during the post-punk era, the band incorporated reggae and diverse styles into much of their music. The band performed their last concert on 1992 and has been on a hiatus ever since.
The tour will commence in Birmingham on Dec. 15 and the band is also starting a new website, www.pilofficial.com Lydon, now 53 years old, told Britain’s Guardian newspaper the revised PiL will feature guitarist Lu Edmonds, drummer Bruce Smith and multi-instrumentalists Scott Firth. Former members, Jah Wobble and Keith Levene are not in the line-up for the reworked band.
