Show Pick Of The Day: Puddin’ Tang
Want to bounce around to some hyphy, upbeat garage rock? You don’t have to travel all the way to Europe to experience, as Puddin’ Tang describes their sound, German pop… dirty pop is more like it. Hailing from Puddinville, GA — sounds more like a space on Candy Land than a town — Puddin’ Tang, often wrongfully believed to have evolved from the film “Pootie Tang”, holds their own as a two man, one woman trio with hipster appeal and music that will make you scream in your skinny jeans.
A combination of funked lyrics, head bopping tempo, and electronic garage band instrumentals makes Puddin’ Tang a hyped show every time. Don’t miss them tonight at Tasty World Uptown, 10:00 pm. ($5 at the door) Along with putting on a killer show, Puddin’ Tang is releasing their self-titled album tonight as well. No doubt, the show will be a not so mild celebration of the band’s achievements.
No worries though, if you miss this show the band will be skipping around Athens the next few weeks making stops at other venues. However, with the ambience Tasty World Uptown provides, I would recommend catching the band tonight.
Check out their MySpace to preview the tracks from their self-titled album release, Puddin’ Tang.
Rounding out the night at Tasty World Uptown are Trashcans (“lo-fi blown-out scuzz punk”), TV Ghost (psychedelic post-punk), and Wizzard Sleeve (gothic, psych rock).
