Cake has gone green. The band that brought us such classics as "Sheep Go To Heaven" and "Short Skirt/Long Jacket," are back in the studio working on album number six. So what innovations will these mellow rockers bring us with their new record? For one thing, the album is being recording using 100 percent solar power in the band's eco-friendly Sacramento studio and rehearsal space. Good thing the Cake guys are based in sunny California.
The solar-powered album is due out in spring 2010 and will be Cake's first output of new music since 2004's Pressure Chief. Fans who are eager to hear what Cake's been up to can sign up for the group's mailing list to receive early ring-tone conducive snippets of the new tracks.
Although this upcoming release will be the band's first batch of new material in six years, Cake released a B-sides album in 2007 entitled B-Sides and Rarities and in June re-released its debut album Motorcade of Generosity.
As of right now the only scheduled Cake dates are in Boulder, Co., on Oct. 18 and New Year's Eve in Seattle.
