Friends and family in the Athens community will come together in remembrance of local musician Jon Guthrie this Sunday (10/4) at the Salvation Army's Chase Street location at 3 p.m. Those who knew him are encouraged to attend, said friends on Thursday.
Guthrie's body was discovered Monday evening, the victim of a single car accident on Beaverdam Road outside downtown Athens. He was reported missing earlier in the day after leaving downtown early Sunday morning and falling out of contact with family and friends.
A musician for more than half his 26 years, Guthrie played with a host of local bands, including Guff, Love Tractor, The Vigilantes of Love and alongside his father and uncle in The Michael Guthrie Band.
