New Moon Soundtrack Available Early (October 16th)

Photobucket
The release of a soundtrack four days early doesn’t seem to be a huge deal, unless you are a Twihard and said soundtrack is for the upcoming veggie-vamp movie, New Moon. This soundtrack will narrate the lives of Twilight Saga fans around the globe and keep them sane until the November 20 theatre release of New Moon.

Following British Amazon.com’s release of song snippets and the recent full album leak on the Internet, the soundtrack’s release date has been moved up to October 16.

It is unusual to find such an indie-rich music soundtrack associated with a tween driven, hugely publicized movie empire such as The Twilight Saga. However, with the second installment of the saga, New Moon comes a genuinely interesting and listen-worthy soundtrack.

The previous soundtrack, paired with Twilight and released back in 2008, had more of an alternative rock vibe featuring artists such as Paramore and Linkin Park. New Moon’s LP takes a turn for the better incorporating more indie-type artists and really breaking the mainstream Twilight Saga viewer into the very unconventional side of music.

When securing fresh original songs from talented artists — including Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, St. Vincent, Lykke Li, The Killers, and Death Cab For Cutie — director Chris Weitz seemingly wanted to reach beyond the tweens and twimoms to a more diverse, musically cultured group.  Hot off production of Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist, Weitz no doubt sees the impact music has on storytelling.

Thus, the pangs of young love between human and vampire will be narrated by some truly heart-wrenching original indie tunes. Though previously blogged, here is the track list again as a reminder:

1. Meet Me On the Equinox, Death Cab for Cutie
2. Friends, Band of Skulls
3. Hearing Damage, Thom Yorke
4. Possibility, Lykke Li
5. A White Demon Love Song, The Killers
6. Satellite Heart, Anya Marina
7. I Belong To You (New Moon Remix), Muse
8. Rosyln, Bon Iver & St. Vincent
9. Done All Wrong, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
10. Monsters, Hurricane Bells
11. The Violet Hour, Sea Wolf
12. Shooting the Moon, OK Go
13. Slow Life, Grizzly Bear (with Victoria Legrand)
14. No Sound But the Wind, Editors
15. New Moon (The Meadow), Alexandre Desplat
