MGMT Brings Sophomore Album “Congratulations” To 2010

Photobucket
Back off French president Nicolas Sarkozy, MGMT is done with your song-stealing drama and are finally ready to release their 2nd album, Congratulations.

For the past year, Malibu has been a haven of relaxation and soul-searching for MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. The Brooklyn-bread duo has been enjoying the escape from the media hype associated with their 2008 piracy lawsuit against Sarkozy and has been letting the songwriting flow in their home-based Malibu studio.

Congratulations will greatly differ in tone in comparison to the band’s debut album, Oracular Spectacular (2008). On a more melancholic note, the band will give their fans a taste of what they felt amidst this past year’s commotion.

This album is a result of careful focus on songwriting and the collaboration with producer Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember of Spacemen 3/Spectrum, and contributing vocals, Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux, Congratulations will hopefully generate another well-liked album. MGMT’s fame came swift in 2008, and their sophomore album—if successful—will no doubt solidify their good musical reputation.

Expect Congratulations out in early 2010.
