5 unavoidable festival encounters

Photobucket

Every festival is unique, offering different atmospheres and varying lineups, appealing to different types of people. However, there are some things that you inevitably find at all of them. Excluding the obvious- hippies, offerings of illegal substances, the waist or even knee-length dreds- these are 5 staples you can't make it through the weekend without stumbling upon:

  1. Hula Hoops (Adults and kids alike with mad Hula skills, sometimes in wonderful little groups…How did they get so good? Do they practice at home or do they just go to that many festivals? Or is it some natural God-given hippie gift? I’ve given this too much thought.)
  2. A guy wearing a moe. T-shirt
  3. moe. (or the Disco Biscuits, but really, it’s about the same.)
  4. Nudity (usually in form of females who think that if that paint substitutes for clothes, but sometimes you get random dude who decides to rebel against clothing. Sometimes, he gets tasered and it goes on youtube. Old post. Check it.)
  5. Drum Circles (If you stay up late enough, just follow the faint drum beats and you’ll eventually stumble upon this weird, intense, tribal-like jam session. It’s like National Geographic, except you know that these people probably go to school or have 9-5 jobs in the real world)

  1. At Hoopee Jam I experienced three out of 5...
1.Lots of hula hoops, some people were really amazing at it.
2.One of the talented circus hula hooping ladies decided her pants effected her performance poorly so she lost them.
3.Drumming, ah yes the monotonous never ending drumming that kept me up till 6:30 in the morning. Wish I had brought ear plugs.
