Live & Local: 3 Foot Swagger

Photobucket

If you happen to be in Athens tonight, check out 3 Foot Swagger at the Georgia Theatre tonight along with special guest DJ TRIZ and Dr. Louis Sullivan. 3 Foot Swagger is an Athens-born and based band that combines bluegrass, funk, and psychedelia. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Jake Cohan put this outfit together on the spot for a show at a Georgia river outpost in 2007, and after a successful set the group decided to keep at it, putting their diverse yet harmonious influences together to make their own music (check out “Rollin By”). Cohan brings the bluegrass, Scott Lerch adds that funky baseline, Jeff Reusche’s guitar and vocals puts the southern spin on it, Charlie McCoy’s drum mastery keeps it all the right tempo, and Dave Cardello’s guitar skills and jazz influences help everything flow. Their live show is heavy on the jam tangents, while also playing both Swagger originals as well as covers ranging from Pink Floyd to Talking Heads. So for you Athens summer dwellers, take it to the Theatre to get your Swagger on!
