Twilight 2009: April 24th-25th

This weekend, April 24th-25th, 2009, is host to the 30th annual Twilight Professional Bike Race in downtown Athens. The weekend is full of events that are fun for friends, family and racers alike. The event will feature, for the second year in a row, the UGA Jazz Festival, which is also downtown. So come on out and hear some slick jazz riffs and some even slicker gear shifts by the racers. If you haven’t been before, these racers FLY around downtown streets, even faster than the cops do in pursuit of underage drinkers outside of Bourbon Street (which is pretty damn fast). The annual race has become a springtime tradition in Athens, and attracts professional riders from all over the globe. The tradition started in 1980 and has been a local favorite since.
