British Music On the Rise

Photobucket

The Brits are taking over! The music industry, that is. According to figures from the BPI, which represents the British recorded music business, one in 10 albums bought in the US last year was by a British act. This rise to 10 percent from 8.7 percent in 2007 is largely due to the good ole Brit bands who had killer albums in the past few years such as Radiohead's In Rainbows and Coldplay's Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. But if you think about it, there have been quite a few breakout stars from across the pond like Leona Lewis, Estelle and Duffy that have contributed to the rise of sales of Brit music in the US. too. Come on US, step it up. What have they got that we don't? (other than those charming british accents).
