Concert Review: Robert Randolph and the Family Band
Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Words are hard to come by to express how bad-ass the show was last night. Imagine Jimi Hendrix meshed up with Aretha Franklin and sprinkle in some jazz, funk and gospel. They have it going on and the people know it. There have been concerts in Athens, none of which, to my recollection, have thwarted three encores. Yes, three. Robert Randolph doesn’t play the steel guitar, it’s definitely a steal. For the money people paid and the show that was received, the band definitely got cheated. It was a spiritual experience to say the least. Basically RR makes everything a lot cooler sitting down… even peeing. Let’s get them back to Athens, pronto.
