Taking Back Sunday has never been one to conform, with their emo/angst-inspired lyrics and "don't take no crap from no one" attitude, but ever notice how none of their albums sound like they're from the same band? That's because they really are a different band nearly every time they put out a record. In the course of a decade, TBS has shed five different band members including two singers, and incurred a lot of crap from the critics because of it. But they've never let it get to them, and when guitarist, Fred Mascherino recently split from the band, the critics were at them again and this time they tried another strategy for silencing them; they made t-shirts. The yellow t-shirts display the quote, "I Used to Be in Taking Back Sunday"and are being sent out along with copies of their upcoming album, New Again, due June 2. You've got to admit, it's an extremely clever way to laugh at themselves while promoting their new album at the same time. Props to TBS.
