Coachella Music Festival Roundup

Photobucket
Word on the street is that the 10th Annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was a huge success, despite these economically-trying times. Who knows if it was the out of this world lineup (Paul McCartney, The Killers, The Cure, Leonard Cohen, Conor Oberst, M.I.A., Yeah Yeah Yeahs, My Bloody Valentine, just to name a few), or the amazing location (The Del Taco in Palm Desert, California), but this music fest was no joke. Friday's opening, featuring Paul McCartney, sold out more than two weeks in advance and for good reason. According to usatoday.com, the 66-year-old former Beatle played for two-and-a-half hours, 45 minutes longer than he was scheduled to play. Along with an abundance of Beatles standards, McCartney sang an emotional, "My Love" dedicated to Linda McCartney on the 11th Anniversary of her death. He also pulled out the ukulele and played, "Something" in honor of the late George Harrison. For the encore, McCartney had the entire crowd singing along to "Hey Jude." There were people from all over the world at Coachella and some notable celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kate Bosworth, Anne Hathaway, Paris Hilton, Kirsten Dunst, Drew Barrymore, Emile Hirsch and "Twilight" star, Robert Pattinson couldn't bear to miss the festival either. I hope all of these upcoming summer music festivals (Bonnaroo, 10,000 Lakes Festival, Rothbury) will prove to be just as successful as Coachella.
