MTV is putting the “M” back into TV, only you’ll have to be awake from 3 to 9 a.m. to catch it. The network will air the six-hour block of programing, dubbed “AMTV”, Monday through Thursday. Music videos, artist interviews, performance videos, and news will appear as part of the new spot. The idea is to sample more music on TV and then connect it with the networks Web site, so viewers are exposed to more artists.
The network is also bringing back “Unplugged,” a show that airs acoustic performances. I wonder how T-Pain will sound without autotune.
Hopefully the changes will allow MTV to do what it was founded to do--put music on TV, but if you are normal and like to sleep, there’s always Youtube.
