It was a sad day for the music world Thursday as Michael Jackson, the forever reigning ‘King of Pop’, passed away after a case of cardiac arrest.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate Jackson at his home for three-quarters of an hour, and then rushed him to the UCLA Medical Center where doctors proceeded to work on him. He was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m.

An autopsy has been planned for today, but the toxicology reports will probably not be finalized for a few weeks. In a press conference, Assistant Chief Coronor Lt. Ed Winter told reporters the likelihood of the results being announced today are very slim and that it could take 6 – 8 weeks to find anything concrete.

Jackson’s passing comes as a hard blow to fan’s worldwide as the star was preparing to embark on a tour that was to start on July 13 at London’s 02 Arena.

In the wake of this tragedy, it has been announced that BET will dedicate the BET Awards on Sunday to Jackson because of his incredible influence on music and pop culture.

During last night’s screening of Bruno in Los Angeles, Universal Pictures removed a scene that involved Jackson’s sister Letoya. When asked about the cut, a spokesman for the company had no comment.
