Location of Fire Determined

Photobucket

Investigators looking into the early morning fire that gutted Georgia Theatre still have not been able to find the root source of the incident, but they have determined that the flames began in the back right corner of the building, where the dressing room is located.

Special Agent Dondi Albritton of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' National Response Team explained, “We exhausted every investigative lead that there is possible, and based upon our determination at this point and time, the only call we can make is undetermined. But that doesn't mean the investigation is closed. We have run every lead possible. There are some things we can't rule out but we have no choice but to say it's undetermined."

Assistant Chief Kyle Hendrix of the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department added that sometimes the cause of a fire is simply ‘undetermined.’ Authorities will continue to observe the situation. Stay tuned for any updates on the investigation!
