When television producer Simon Cowell and his panel for the television talent series “X Factor” rejected a contestant in London after she auditioned, the contestant (who remains unnamed) threatened to kill herself after sobbing uncontrollably. “X factor” originated in London after “American Idol” made it big in the United States. A witness to the sobbing incident told The Sun the contestant “ran off, shouting that she was going to commit suicide. The producers ran after her. I saw her a half an hour later, and they were still making sure that she was OK.”
A spokesperson for the television show told reporters, “The welfare of our contestants is of paramount important.”
