Scotland School Closes Because of Oasis Concert
In Edinburgh, Scotland parents are outraged due to Roseburn Primary School closing early because of an Oasis concert at a nearby venue. Angela McGregor told BBC news she could not afford to take time off work to pick up her five-year-old son; "It's ridiculous that the school had to close early because of the Oasis concert. My son Robert lost half a day's education. "If it was the Queen coming then fair enough. I'm a single parent and I had to make other childcare arrangements." Another parent expressed her fury, "Why should children's education and working parents suffer for Oasis to make mega money?" A spokesperson from the school district told parents the school was closed due to important information received from the police suggesting the area would be hazardous to children because of busy streets and alcohol consumed by concert-goers.
After the concert ended however, police claimed there was no serious congestion in streets from the concert. Only one person was fined the entire show for being “a public nuisance.”
