Paul McCartney is getting animated. Well, at least his music is. For the first time since The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine project in 1968, McCartney is going to be heavily involved in an animated film. He has agreed to record a score for an animated film calledHigh in the Clouds, which is based on a children’s story that McCartney actually co-wrote with Phillip Ardagh. The movie is about a squirrel’s quest to find an animal sanctuary, according to Variety. The film will be produced by Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, the two former New Line Cinema founders. “Paul said he would commit to a score of original songs as part of it,” Lynne said. “Bob and I had never focused on animation in our career, but that got our attention.” McCartney composed music for The Family Way in 1967, but since then has only contributed his music to movies. He contributed “Live and Let Die” to both the James Bond movie that shares the name and Vanilla Sky and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for both of them.
