Guitar Anti-Hero

Photobucket

At a Los Angeles press conference for the upcoming rock documentary "It Might Get Loud," guitarists Jack White and Jimmy Page shunned the ultra popular video game Guitar Hero by saying that these types of games are not a viable way to get people interested in learning and playing instruments.

White elaborated by saying, "It's depressing to have a label come and tell you that ['Guitar Hero'] is how kids are learning about music and experiencing music."

When talking about bands putting their music on the video game format, he went on to say, "If you have to be in a video game to get in front of ['the youth'], that's a little sad."

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page added that he found it hard to believe that anybody was learning anything significant about music while playing games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

It seems that this mentality isn't shared by all iconic guitarists. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr gave the okay and are prepping for the release of the highly anticipated The Beatles: Rock Band video game, dropping September 9 of this year.
