Farrah Fawcett Dies from Cancer
After a long three-year struggle with cancer, 62 year-old “Charlie’s Angels” star Farrah Fawcett died this morning at 9:28 AM. When she died her son was in jail but at her bedside were friends, Mila Murphy and Dr. Piero, along with longtime lover Ryan O’Neal and best friend Alana Stewart.
O’Neal released a statement “After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Fawcett has passed away. Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Fawcett over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."
Fawcett, native to Texas, attended the University of Texas majoring in art before her acting career. She was spotted by an agent on the campus and was encouraged to pursue acting as a professional career. She appeared in toothpaste commercials and others after graduating from college and soon after she appeared on the famous TV series “The Big Valley.” She appeared in films such as "Myra Breckinridge," "Logan’s Run" and popular television shows such as the crime series “Harry O” and later “Charlie’s Angels.” During the peak of the famous “Charlie’s Angels,” Fawcett left television with high hopes of a bigger film career instead. However, this move backfired on her due to her upset fans and some terrible movie scripts. In 1984, Fawcett made a comeback in the TV movie “The Burning Bed” landing her nominations for an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award. Towards the end of her career, Fawcett made Playboy the best issue of the decade with her appearance in the magazine in 1995, according to the La Times.
