The Avett Brothers release new single

Photobucket

Unless you’ve been living under a rock since, well, the beginning of the year, you know that The Avett Brothers are coming out with a new album set to be released September 29th. The Avett Brothers have been feeding their fans small tidbits about the new album through their website (www.theavettbrothers.com). The Avett Brothers announced the album, I and Love and You, earlier this year, listed the tracks for it in early June, and have just released the title track as a free download on Spinner.com (here's the link). The single, a song inspired by a gig the brothers had at Brooklyn’s Galapagos, is a ballad with lyrics calling “Brooklyn, Brooklyn, take me in/Are you aware the shape I’m in?” Scott Avett told Spinner that Brooklyn was “the coolest place we’d ever been in every sense, so the Brooklyn chorus kind of embodies the rest of the lyrics.” The Avett Brothers also just put up the cover art for I and Love and You on their website, an oil painting by Scott Avett (see photo above). And according to their website, The Avett Brothers will “have some more surprises and pieces in the coming months,” so keep checking back, Avett fans.
