UGA in Playboy's top 10 Party Schools of 2009

Photobucket

The lists just keep coming, people. Earlier, it was shown that Athens ranked 24th out of 29 in the top places to visit in 2009 (in the world) by the Los Angeles Times. Today, the ruling is out and the University of Georgia ranks 7th in the top 10 party schools by Playboy Magazine. Not a bad week for the Bulldogs. The rankings are based on several criteria, from “bikini,” “sex,” “sports,” and “brains.” No wonder that the University of Miami took the top spot. Playboy execs tried to take a more mathematical approach to ranking the schools, by including statistics such as the number of nursing majors, the amounts of beer consumed and the number of study rooms open for “late night studying.” It was hoped that the statistical and mathematical approach would eliminate bias and provide a truer perspective of the schools that really know how to party. Interesting to note, the bar scenes were eliminated from the criteria, which very well could have lofted UGA to a top 5, perhaps even a top 3 finish. The University of Miami (“The U”) had no comment on its placement at the top spot for partying in 2009. The top 10 is listed below.
1. The University of Miami
2. University of Texas—Austin
3. San Diego State University
4. University of Florida
5. University of Arizona
6. University of Wisconsin—Madison
7. University of Georgia
8. Louisiana State University
9. University of Iowa
10. West Virginia University
