St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) burst onto the scene two years ago with her debut album Marry Me, and instantly became a critical darling, garnering fans in such high places as Pitchfork, Spin, and the New York Times Magazine. She is releasing her second album, Actor, in May and it takes up right where the debut left off, meaning, it’s good.
Her voice is startlingly beautiful, and it weaves over interesting pop melodies. Her songwriting is smart, compelling, and surprising. The songs have an epic feel to them, creating worlds listeners literally fall into.
