7 Indoor Earth Day Activities

It’s Earth Day. But if like me, allergies have rendered you an itchy, sniffling, phlegmy mess, try out some of these ways to celebrate the great mother Earth while breathing some non-irritating inside air.

1. Watch old episodes of “Captain Planet

Earth! Wind! Fire! Water! and.....Heart! “With our powers combined...”

Summon up some fellow Planeteers and reminisce on this classic from your childhood.

2. Water your house plants

If there was ever a day to remember to do this, it would be today.

3. Share a shower

Showering uses about 2 gallons of water per minute, so double up to save some water and share some heat.

4. Watch “Planet Earth”

This is by far the coolest TV show ever created, and it will remind you why it’s important to think about the environment.  Psychedelics optional.

5. Try out some meditation or yoga poses

Get in touch with the circle of life by taking a minute to be quiet and breathe.  Not only will you be relaxed, you just might find nirvana.

6. Eat your (organic) dinner by (soy) candlelight

Not only does everyone look good in candlelight, turning off the lights saves electricity.

7. Listen to some earth-friendly music

Dubconscious is a local band that does a lot for the environment. Their reggae sound will have you channeling your inner flower child in no time.

But let's be honest, no one really wants to spend Earth Day inside.  So pop a Zyrtec and go play, or plant a tree or something.
