Artist of the Day: The Boy Least Likely To

This British duo met in school and put out their first record in 2002 on the label they started themselves.  Comprised of Pete Hobbs and Jof Owen, the band’s sweet twee pop is a perfect spring sound track.  Their second album Law of the Playground just came out in the US last week.

Pitchfork named their first album, The Best Party Ever, as one of the Top 50 albums of 2005, and Rolling Stone put them in the Top 10 bands of 2006.

Their sound is sweet and playful and incorporates 80’s flavor with Enlish countryside sounds of banjos, fiddles, recorders and glockenspiels. They remind me a little bit of Belle and Sebastian. Basically, you can’t help but be happy listening to this.

Check out the cute and lovely song “Apple Wagon” on their myspace
