Beck/Charlotte Gainsbourg collaboration, free download

 Photobucket

Beck and French musician Charlotte Gainsbourg have teamed up, combining their eccentric personalities and musical style to produce IRM.  Since Gainsbourg initially recruited Beck a year and a half ago to produce the album's title track, the pair have worked together to complete the entire album. Beck composed all of IRM's music and shared songwriting duties on some tracks.

And now they're giving you a free look-see at what they've been up to. "IRM" is available to download for free from Gainsbourg's web site. The album is due out sometime in January 2010, and the first single, "Heaven Can Wait," should be out soon.  "Heaven" is a Gainsbour/Beck duet.

IRM marks Gainsbourg's first album in three years; her last release was 2006's 5:55, which went platinum in France. Beck's been keeping busy with his latest project, Record Club, in which he covers full albums of other artists' work.  Other musicians including Wilco, MGMT and Devandra Banhart have teamed up with Beck for the Record Club.  The latest album covered is Leonard Cohen's Songs of Leonard Cohen.
