Norah Jones' New Record Details

Photobucket

Norah Jones, the sultry singer who’s responsible for laid-back folksy tunes such as “Come Away with Me” and “Sunrise” has announced details for her upcoming album, The Fall.

Jones’ new disc will be released on November 17 (the same day as John Mayer’s fourth studio album Battle Studies, which he describes as: “a diary of a lost, washed up man.”) and will include a song co-written by Ryan Adams entitled, “Light as a Feather” and a song called “Stuck” which was co-written by Okkervil River’s Will Shef.

The full track- listing is displayed below:

“Chasing Pirates”
”Even Though”
”Light As A Feather”
”Young Blood”
”I Wouldn't Need You”
”Waiting”
”It's Gonna Be”
”You've Ruined Me”
”Back To Manhattan”
”Stuck”
”December”
”Tell Yer Mama”
”Man Of The Hour”

Jones’ last album Not Too Late debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 in January of 2007 and was her 3rd consecutive album to hit the top spot. Due to her past success with album sales, expectations will be high when The Fall drops in, well, the fall.

On Mrs. Jones’ official Web site, she explains how the piano has taken a backseat on her new material:

“I actually write more on guitar than I do on piano,” she says. “It just felt more natural for me to play it on these songs.”

She went on to say:

“I think the record sounds different due to the variety of musicians we used,” Jones says, “I knew I wanted to play with grooves more than I have on previous albums. Some of these new songs lent themselves to having driving rhythms underneath.”

On Tuesday (Septermber 9), Jones’ performed one of her new tracks, “Young Blood,” at Apple’s “It’s Only Rock and Roll” conference.

November 17 should end up being a big day for record sales due to two seasoned artists, John Mayer and Norah Jones, each of whom haven’t released a new full-length record in two or more years (John Mayer’s Continuum was released in 2006).

On a personal note, I will be in line for both records. Hallelujah for new music!
