Toby Keith and Craig Wiseman will be given special awards during the Nashville Songwriter Association International’s Achievement Awards banquet on Oct. 18.
Keith’s No. 1 hit, “Shoud’ve Been a Cowboy” was written in 1993 and was the first of many chart-topping tunes he has authored since. And, with my most-recent Keith favorite, “God Love Her” stuck in my head, I am glad to see him get some recognition for his song-writing ability. Keith will take home the songwriter-artist of the decade award.
Wiseman’s songs such as “The Good Stuff” for Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn’s “Believe” and Tim Mcgraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying,” has earned him the NSAI’s songwriter of the decade award.
