CMA Nominations


Country fans, place your bets! The first list of CMA nominations were announced today during Good Morning America in New York by Darius Rucker and Lee Ann Womack.

The legendary George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and yes- Taylor Swift are all nominated for entertainer of the year. Swift also finds herself in the female vocalist category, alongside Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood.

Lead vocalist for Hootie & the Blowfish turned country star, Darius Rucker, along with Strait, Chesney, Paisley and Urban are nominated for male vocalist of the year. Rucker, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Jake Owen and Georgia’s own Zac Brown Band are all nominated for new artist of the year.

The remaining finalists will be announced in Nashville at CMT’s studios by Cody Alan and Alecia Davis, along with singer Randy Houser, during Insider Special Edition: 2009 CMA Awards.
The 2009 CMA Awards at Nashville’s Sommet Center will be hosted by Carrie Underwood and country’s funny man, Brad Paisley on Nov. 11 airing on ABC.
