Brian Epstein Biopic in the Making

David Permut, producer of 2008’s Charlie Bartlett, has just been confirmed by Variety Magazine to be taking the reigns on, “A Life in the Day” an upcoming movie which profiles the life of Beatles’ Manager, Brian Epstein.

Epstein discovered and managed the Beatles from 1961 to 1967, and died at age 32 from a drug overdose.

The script was written by Tony Gittelson, who has worked as assistant director on tv shows such as Veronica Mars and Heroes.

Producers Steve Longi (who also worked on Charlie Bartlett) and Chris Mangano will also be on board as co-producers.

In an interview, Permut explained that he will try to put as many Beatles’ songs in the film as possible, but at its core, the plot will focus more on the bands formation rather than their explosive career.

"Everybody turned down the band,” said Permut, “even though Brian promised they would become bigger than Elvis, and he finally got George Martin at EMI to change his mind and give them an audition.”

Permut has also just completed two films in which he acted as producer: Dimension Films’ “Youth in Revolt,” a comedy starring Michael Cera and “Prayers for Bobby,” a Lifetime film starring Sigourney Weaver.
