Artist of the Day: Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl Pictures, Images and Photos

Dave Grohl rarely disappoints. He was the drummer for the biggest grunge band ever (Nirvana), and afterwards he has managed to front as singer/songwriter of a rock band that has seen over a decade of success (Foo Fighters). Instead of burning out and settling down, he's also jumped on to contribute to albums by bands like Queens of the Stone and Tenacious D (check out retro Grohl as the demon in “Tribute”). And now, Dave Grohl has teamed up with Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones in a supergroup called Them Crooked Vultures, set to debut with a post-Lollapalooza show on August 9th at Chicago’s Metro. The whole thing is pretty hush-hush, and no details (songs, who will handle lead vocals, etc.) are known at the time. All that we have is the official website, where you can enter your email address to access links to cryptic Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter pages featuring the logo, which is a combination of the Foo’s “FF,” John Paul Jones’ symbol from Led Zeppelin IV and the Queens’ “Spermy Q” symbol.
