You're Officially Old: Incubus Has Greatest Hits Album

Photobucket

The two disc collection, called Monuments and Melodies, was released in June and features hits and rarities as well as two new songs written for the compilation. The first disc has all of the band’s major hits on it, such as “Drive,” “Stellar,” “Pardon Me,” and “Warning.” The second disc includes a cover of Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy,” as well as other tracks that didn’t make their previous records. The band is embarking on a tour starting today (July 9), and plans to primarily play their hits, but also some tracks from the band’s 1997 fan-favorite S.C.I.E.N.C.E. For the fans that were bummed when they saw Incubus live and didn't hear songs from this album (you know who you are), Boyd tells Rolling Stone: “We didn’t hate these songs, but we played them 500 times, so it was time to put them away. We had started to morph them just for the sake of changing them, but now we’re playing them verbatim in their original incarnations, and they’re really fun.” But wait- Incubus isn’t old enough to have a greatest hits album, are they? Well, actually, they formed in 1991, meaning they have been together for almost 20 years. Boyd says, “I guarantee there are people out there like, ‘Wait a minute, I feel like I was just in high school discovering this band, and they have a greatest hits record out?’” No worries for the die-hard Incubus fans out there; a greatest hits album doesn’t mean the end. Boyd predicts they’ll write the bulk of the next record on the road. In the meantime, if you want to check out the closest show, they’ll be in Atlanta on August 14 and tickets are currently on sale.
