Michael Jackson: The Memorial
Michael Jackson’s family, friends and about 17,000 fans packed out Los Angeles’ Staples Center for his memorial service, which lasted about two hours and had appearances by Kobe Bryant, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Usher, Mariah Carey, John Mayer, Magic Johnson and Stevie Wonder. But the most emotional moment came at the end, when the Jackson family, including Michael’s brothers, all wearing one sequined glove each and sunglasses, along with Janet, looking very conservative and somber, took the stage. Jermaine and Marlon Jackson both spoke, and then at the end the most heartbreaking moment came when Michael’s daughter Paris told the crowd, “Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you can ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him so much” (see below).
