Today Apple released an exclusive collection of Frank Sinatra covers at the iTunes Music Store. A few of the big name artists that Apple commissioned for the project, called “His Way, Our Way,” include Maroon 5, the Kooks, A Fine Frenzy and Joshua Radin. The “His Way, Our Way” page on iTunes says that the songs “aren’t your standard covers – these are re-imaginings from artists … this is a collection of tracks you aren’t going to find anywhere else.” Adam Levine of Maroon 5 told Billboard that he has always been a big fan of Frank Sinatra. “I think Sinatra had such amazing taste,” Levine said. “He never overdid it. He was always pretty understated in his singing, which is interesting because he wasn’t understated in his lifestyle. That juxtaposition is really kind of an interesting thing because he was very tasteful when it came to choosing certain melodies and almost didn’t embellish at all actually. Kind of stuck to the plan, which I thought was very cool.” The iTunes page has both the original Sinatra song and then the cover of the original right next to it.
