A New 'Sunrise' for Chester Bennington
The lead singer of LinkinPark found inspiration for a “darker and moodier” side project in one of the most unlikely of places:while writing songs for LinkinPark’s new album.
Dead by Sunrise, the name of Chester Bennington’s new side project, will debut this fall with an album entitled Out of Ashes.
Bennington explained the writing process in a press release saying that he created some songs that did not have that same LinkinPark style, so instead of changing the tunes to a more suitable formula, he decided to work on the tracks separate from the group.
Howard Benson, who has also worked with Motorhead and My Chemical Romance, helped produce Out of Ashes, while members of Orgy and Julien-K collaborated with Bennington.
The album completely strays from the LinkinPark hip hop vibe, and Bennington explains, “It’s got me all over it.This is the music I hear in my head.”
As for LinkinPark’s follow-up to 2007’s Minutes to Midnight, co-lead singer Mike Shinoda told Rolling Stone, “They’re going to have to come up with a new genre name for what this record is.”
Those of you jonesing for a preview of what’s to come for the Linkin Park boys can check out the track “New Divide” which is featured on the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen soundtrack.
