For once, a band name is truly explanatory. A veritable who’s who among really great (and cool) musicians, the monsters are Jim James, M. Ward, Mike Mogis and Conor Oberst.
The folk giants began performing together in 2004, and squeezed recording sessions into their already hectic touring schedules. Years later, their debut self-titled album is all set for a September 22 release date.
I think the reputations of the Monsters precede them, and this album is definitely on my list as an anticipated personal favorite from 2009. I just hope they decide to tour together to support the album as well.
